The Spirit Poured Forth Joy and Love at the Marriage RetreatAt the end of September, over 30 married couples gathered to renew, refresh, and revive their marriage at the Simply Love Marriage Retreat. It was put together by the Family Life Office, and primarily led by Troy and Kathleen Billings. It offered a track for Spanish speaking couples. We had two amazing priests accompany us as well as Monsignor Karl. Some amazing highlights were the bilingual Mass, hike to the waterfall, Rosary around the lake, and Adoration at the pavilion. We are looking forward to hosting another marriage retreat in the spring. Family Church Retreats and Private Retreats are Awesome at Heart RidgeWe just finished up a family retreat from a church in Anderson. What a wonderful experience to have families come together for fellowship, worship, and community building, not to mention–fun! We also had a small group of students from LSU, yes, that's a long ways!, come for a retreat over their fall break. It was nothing formal. They just rented an Airbnb and made themselves at home around the campus. To quote one of them, "We def are coming back because it is a part of our hearts. The chapel was such an amazing addition to our trip!" And Speaking of Family Retreats. . .the New Year's Family Retreat is back! When we saw that the weekend around New Year’s Eve starts with the Feast of the Holy Family and ends with the Feast of Mary, Mother of God, it was hard not to want to gather families around for this opportune time. Not only will we have fun together, but we’ll worship, pray, and grow closer to one another. We have flexible lodging arrangements and meal ticket options. We also have a family-friendly schedule with lots of free time. There will be games, hikes, and time for prayer and reflections. This makes for the perfect mini-vacation and a great way to begin the New Year. We’ll start sign-ups on November 1st. For the price of a couple’s tickets to an event in your city, you can bring the whole family for a New Year’s party not to be forgotten! AND speaking of Family Retreats, again. . . .Everyone’s asking “When Can We Sign Up for Summer Family Camp?”We are starting sign-ups on January 1st. Prices will be very similar to last year. And here is some good news: We are offering some of the Summer Family Camp Weeks to Groups and Parishes. Our camp is a great way for your group, parishes, neighbors and friends to all exclusively come to camp together. You’ll build community and friendships that you can continue when you return home.
Although many families may like this idea, we also have families tell us that they love the opportunity to make new friends and for their kids to meet other Catholic families from all over the US. Either way, it’s a win-win. If you want to get a group to come together, you only have until January 1st to get 8 families signed up for your camp and make a deposit. We are saving these dates for group family camp: June 4-9 June 18-23 July 16-21 July 23-28 First come first served. We already have a group coming the first week in July. What ever weeks don't get taken by January 1st will be added to the Regular Summer Catholic Family Camp. What else is new this year? We are adding a large "splash" yard with sprinklers, pools, and slides for toddlers and elementary school-aged children. For our teens, we have purchased several floating islands to put into the middle of the lake. And new optional excursions! Our regular weeks for Summer Catholic Family Camp will be: June 11-16 June 25-30 July 9-14 with a good chance of adding a few of those weeks mentioned above. We'll have those additions added on January 1st.
