We love St. Joseph and credit finding Heart Ridgeto his patronage. It's no coincidence that our closing date was selected as March 19th, his feast day. St. Joseph has been commonly known as the "real estate" saint. Countless numbers of people have buried his statue in the ground on the property they've wanted to sell or even to purchase. One of the many surprises that we found here at Heart Ridge shortly after purchasing the place was a large statue of St. Joseph tossed in a corner. If this had been an old Catholic institute, that might not have been too surprising, but this was a former fundamentalist Baptist home for children. We believe that was a serious, somewhat miraculous, sign! To mark the occasion of starting and purchasing Heart Ridge, we are going to have a celebration on Saturday, March 20. And what's more fun that partying together? Working together!!!! Well, maybe not, but it's tolerable, and somewhat fun. Anything is better than working at your own house, especially when surrounded by friends, new and old. We just received the bid to paint the newly renovated, rather still being renovated, Lakeside Lodge, and our jaws dropped. We decided that with an army of helpers, we could get this painted ourselves. So that is one thing on the agenda for this workday. We also have plenty of outside work to be done, like trail work, hauling trash out of the woods, planting the Mary Garden, and more! Come and work as fits your timetable, but we will stop work to celebrate a Mass together and then enjoy a meal and fellowship. Towards the evening's end, we hope to make a consecration of the retreat center to St. Joseph. We will also extend the consecration to individuals who want to make the consecration for themselves. Making Marriages a PrioritySure, we live with our spouses day in and day out, especially in these times of quarantine, yet doesn't it feel like we haven't had a chance to spend good, quality time together? Building a strong relationship takes some intentionality. Because we understand the importance of strong marriages, Heart Ridge is thrilled to offer our first retreat for married couples. We've teamed up with Troy and Kathleen Billings, authors and speakers on marriage, to be our leaders and guides for this event. Not only will there be inspiring workshops, but there will be lots of time to discuss, relax, and just hang out together in a setting far away from the normal hustle-bustle of our busy lives. There will also be Mass and Confession available. Couples will stay in the newly renovated Lakeside Lodge. "Come away for awhile to a quiet place." For more information or to register go to: Marriage Retreat Spend Good Friday at Heart RidgeWe will be doing a Way of the Cross similar to what's been done in the past in downtown Greenville. Although we will miss the significance of carrying the cross through the busy city, we have decided to use the quiet and peaceful setting of Heart Ridge for a different type of reflection. That being said, noisy children are most welcome to this family-friendly event. Similar to the Stations of the Cross, the Way of the Cross will journey around Heart Ridge stopping at different waypoints for readings, prayers, and song. We will begin at 1:00. Mark your calendar. We will also be having a Divine Mercy Sunday Celebration and Picnic.
